The New A’s Stadium Is Bringing Major League Baseball to Las Vegas
The Athletics’ new Las Vegas ballpark is planned to open in 2028, adding Major League Baseball to the Strip.
The New A’s Stadium Is Bringing Major League Baseball to Las Vegas
Las Vegas is preparing to welcome another major professional sports franchise as construction moves forward on the new Athletics baseball stadium. Scheduled to open for the 2028 Major League Baseball season, the ballpark will bring MLB action directly to the Las Vegas Strip and add another exciting reason to visit the city.
A Prime Location on the Las Vegas Strip
The new A’s stadium is being built on the former Tropicana Las Vegas site at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. This highly visible location places the stadium near some of the city’s most popular resorts, attractions and entertainment venues.
It will also be close to Allegiant Stadium, T-Mobile Arena, Harry Reid International Airport and the future Brightline West station, helping transform the south end of the Strip into one of Las Vegas’s most important sports and entertainment districts.
What Will the New Stadium Look Like?
Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and HNTB, the stadium will feature a dramatic exterior inspired by overlapping baseball pennants. Its climate-controlled, fixed-roof design will protect guests from the Las Vegas heat while still allowing natural light into the building.
The approximately 33,000-seat ballpark is being designed to create a more intimate baseball experience. According to the Athletics, approximately 80% of the seats will be located inside the foul poles, bringing fans closer to the field and providing excellent views of the game.
One of its most impressive features will be an enormous cable-net glass window overlooking Las Vegas Boulevard. Fans inside the stadium will be able to enjoy views of the Strip while watching Major League Baseball in a comfortable, modern setting.
The ballpark is also expected to offer premium suites, clubs, bars, concession markets and gathering areas that combine baseball tradition with the world-class hospitality Las Vegas is known for. Explore the official Las Vegas Ballpark Experience.
Construction Is Underway
Construction began in 2025, followed by an official groundbreaking ceremony on June 23, 2025. The project is expected to be completed in early 2028, in time for the team’s first season in its new home.
The construction team lists an estimated completion date of February 2028. Fans can also follow the stadium’s progress through the official A’s construction camera.
What the Stadium Means for Las Vegas
The arrival of Major League Baseball represents another major milestone in Las Vegas’s evolution into a leading sports destination. The city already welcomes fans for Raiders football, Vegas Golden Knights hockey, major boxing events, UFC fights, Formula 1 racing and some of the country’s largest sporting events.
The A’s stadium will introduce approximately 81 regular-season home games to Las Vegas each year. That could bring thousands of additional visitors to the city throughout the spring and summer while generating new opportunities for restaurants, entertainment venues and local businesses.
The stadium may also be used for concerts, corporate events and other large-scale gatherings when baseball games are not being played.
A New Experience for Las Vegas Visitors
Once the stadium opens, visitors will be able to build an entire Las Vegas vacation around a baseball game. A typical trip could include watching the A’s play, attending a concert or show, visiting nearby casinos, dining at world-class restaurants and enjoying the city’s nightlife—all during one stay.
For families and groups, a private vacation home can offer more comfort, space and privacy than booking several separate hotel rooms.
